During the design process, certain concepts and ideas are explored that don't make it to the final production. This set of posters comprises of variant designs for 5 of the ASICS 25th Anniversary releases.

• The Mita 'Trico' was the first poster for the 25th Anniversary so a number of ideas were thrown about including a sushi bento style poster, as well as one that featured a samurai warrior. The samurai warrior design was used by Mita, printed onto stickers that released at their instore launch. This edition is a combination of that samurai design, added to the released poster design.

• The AFEW 'Koi' was my favourite release of the 25th Anniversary and also my favourite poster to work on.This variant design includes the addition of a demon and a geisha into the background design.

• The Colette 'Dotty' poster was one of the more difficult tasks, with the sneakers concept based on the brand's blue dot logo, there wasn't really a deep embedded visual narrative to explore. Initial concepts included keyline schematics of the brand logo with Pantone swatch books but this was a little dull. I then tried to consider what other objects existed that were blue and covered in spots and I came up with the poison frog concept that is included in this set. Unfortunately with the store being based in France there were some unintentional issues with the use of frogs. The final poster design replaced the frogs with an illustration of the store front.

• The Highs And Lows 'Silver Screen' was the most personal design for me, with the sneaker based on the Art Deco styled Astor Theatre situated adjacent to HAL's original flagship store in Mt Lawley, Western Australia. This is my local store and added to that was the fact that I used to frequent the Astor Theatre to watch cult films while I was a high school student. To coincide with the sneaker release, the lads from HAL organised a special screening of George Miller's 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. In response I designed a Mad Max poster limited to just 10 copies that was given to the first 10 people in line for the sneaker release. This variant is a combination of that limited poster and the released 'Silver Screen' poster.

• Ronnie Fieg's 'Homage' sneaker was a tribute to the previous work he had done with the ASICS brand, initially through his uncle's store David Z and then through his own brand 'Kith'. My initial concept pitch was a poster featuring Fieg as a Dr Frankenstein styled mad scientist piecing together bits of the other shoes to breather life into his new creation. I then moved on to this poster design that featured every Gel-Lyte III that Ronnie Fieg had designed up until the release of the 'Homage' sneaker.

Each of the 5 posters is double sided, with the back of every poster showcasing the full 25th Anniversary release line up and a description of the individual sneaker designs. This set of variants and concept poster designs is limited to just 25 copies, with each poster in the set hand signed.
